I can’t dispute this. Personally i refer to atheism as a doubt in the god myth, and avoid using the word “disbelief” cuz that insinuates belief or faith is still somehow involved. Doubt is to the best of my knowledge the opposite of faith and it’s not passive. Doubting something is to my mind an action. I actively doubt things all the time and whatever survives this crucible is accepted provisionally by my brain. The following blog post from PhilosophersGroan gets more complicated than that. I think he’s taking the scenic route, but some people like to do that.
